"A Land Without a People for a People Without a Land"
This early Zionist slogan implied that Palestine was an empty, barren desert waiting to be populated by Jews. Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir is often quoted as saying, “We arrived in a barren, empty land and made the desert bloom through sheer pioneer spirit, creating a thriving democratic sanctuary for our exiled people,”
Ottoman census data and historical records show this was fiction: Palestine was a thriving, populated, and modernizing agrarian Arab society with vibrant urban trade centers before the arrival of Zionism.
The 1948 Exodus of about 700,000 Palestinians from Israel was not because of neighboring Arab countries.
In his 1989 book The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem, 1947–1948, Israeli historian Benny Morris reveals that the mass exodus was largely due to deliberate expulsions and violence by forces loyal to Israel, rather than the result of orders by Arab commanders, as had often been historically claimed.
David vs. Goliath Military Myth
Israel has portrayed the 1948 war as a miraculous victory of a tiny, poorly armed Jewish population against a massive, overwhelming monolith of five invading Arab armies. The New Historians proved that while Israel was in a precarious position early on, they quickly held a distinct advantage. The IDF was better organized, possessed more advanced weaponry (largely due to arms deals with Czechoslovakia), and actually outnumbered the combined, poorly coordinated Arab forces on the battlefields for most of the war
Hannibal Directive on October 7
There is reporting by Haaretz, ABC News, and the UN Commission of Inquiry that the Hannibal Directive was in force on October 7, thus some Israelis were killed by the IDF.
The attack on the USS Liberty was deliberate.
The sheer volume of witness testimony, published material, the atrocities Israel was committing in the Sinai Peninsula, analysis by those in the Johnson Administration, the threats to the surviving crew to stay silent, the unwillingness of Congress to investigate the attack, and Occam's razor make it clear that the attack on the USS Liberty in 1967 by Israeli military forces was deliberate. Thirty-four of the ship's crew were killed, and 171 were injured.
Iran has been "close to developing a nuclear weapon" for decades
Benjamin Netanyahu has been warning about Iran being weeks or months away from developing a nuclear weapon for years. In fact, the Iranians were not developing a nuclear weapon. They signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1968 and ratified it in 1970. They've always agreed to inspections, and this was reiterated in the 2015 JCPOA.
But after the Trump Administration dissolved the JCPOA and Iran was attacked by Israel and the United States in 2026, they now want to withdraw from the NPT, since it has proven to be of no benefit.
Israel, the United States, and North Korea have taught the world that possessing nuclear weapons is vital for national defense.
Israel exerts the most leverage on the U.S. government than any other country in history.
There are 33 distinct pro-Israel organizations (such as AIPAC, DMFI, and J Street), alongside tracked pro-Israel individuals who donate money to members of Congress. The Guardian and OpenSecrets estimate that 94 percent of Congressmen take money from pro-Israel lobbies.

A few things:
  1. Iran was a secular democracy before 1953. Britain and the United States engineered a coup d'etat on August 19, 1953 that removed Iran's democratically-elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh from power and installed an autocratic government led by Shah Mohammad Reza. In 1979, the Islamic Revolution overthrew the Shah's government and made Iran the theocratic state it is today. However, Iran, like Israel, holds regular elections. It is a limited democracy.
  2. Israel's non-Jewish citizens do not enjoy the same benefits of citizenship that its Jewish citizens do. They suffer socioeconomic discrimination, highly restrictive land and housing policies, and are underrepresented in the Knesset.
  3. Israel exerts total control over the Occupied Territories (Palestine), and it encourages Jewish settlements in the West Bank. The Jews in the West Bank can vote, but non-Jews cannot.
  4. The theocratic, ethno-state of Israel is a limited democracy.
Israel suppresses speech more than most countries, outside of its own borders.
Within Israel, there's a relatively generous amount of freedom of the press. But outside Israel, criticism of Israel is suppressed through two primary means: money and violence:
  1. The United States government funds Israel's wars with its neighbors. This is through bribes (political contributions) to U.S. Congressmen. Israel can't have public opinion in the U.S. cutting off it's funding. So, it spends money suppressing criticism of Israel in the United States. The U.S. mainstream media is "bought" and avoids serious criticism of Israel by suggesting that criticism of Israel is antisemitic and asking if Israel has a right to exist, ignoring Palestine's right to exist.
  2. Israel bans the press from covering its military operations in Gaza and Lebanon. The independent press has reported that, in Gaza, IDF snipers target journalists. As of September 2026, at least 276 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza. About 30 journalists have been killed in Lebanon.
Netanyahu didn't want to negotiate for the release of October 7 hostages
Israel's actions after the October 7, 2023 attack suggested that recovering the hostages were not a high priority. On October 9, 2026, Haaretz reported that Netanyahu avoided pursuing a deal to release Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza for political reasons, lengthening their suffering and contributing to the murder of some in captivity. "The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has done everything in its power to obstruct a state commission of inquiry that led to the historic tragedy." wrote Haaretz.
Israel's origin story is laced with historical inaccuracies
The early Zionists portrayed the land that would become Israel as "A land without a people for a people without a land." That, and many other aspects of the Israel story are fiction.
